Festive Events from The Suitcase Ensemble this December
Top and Tale at Christmas, Saturday 7 December, 12-3pm.
Free event, open to all ages. Come to the building on platform 1 of Edge Hill Station.
RUNNING ORDER NOW ANNOUNCED:
12:30pm & 1pm: Undiscovered Winter Worlds - with performer/writer Tessa Buddle
Tessa will guide your imagination on a journey through dreamlike landscapes and forgotten celebrations in a world of your own creation. You will make your own unique decoration as part of your adventure, to take home and keep or give as a gift.
12:45pm, 1:15pm & 2pm: Atmospheric Corner - with musician Andy Gledhill
Blend together your favourite seasonal music, festive memories and that elusive Christmassy feeling to produce your personal Yuletide soundscape. We'll provide a selection of noisemakers, but please feel free to bring your own instruments, songs, or just your memories.
1:30pm & 2:30pm: Intergalactic Yuletide Ceili - with dancer Maria Malone
Join in with this dance with a difference. Part ceili, part masque ball, part Christmas carnage, suitable for all levels of experience and inebriation. Learn the dances in a practice run at 1:30pm, ready to unleash its full power as our event closer at 2:30pm.
Ongoing activities from 12pm onwards:
Alien Christmas - with designer/maker Alex Herring
Alex will help you make everything you need to invent your alien Christmas. Planet baubles, strange creatures, and the all-important Intergalactic Yuletide Ceili mask. Your creations will help decorate the room, and you can take them home at the end of the event.
Party Games - with party host with the most Beth Pinches
Beth will be leading her favourite Top and Tale party games to create strings of consciousness with - you guessed it - hilarious consequences. Old Christmas cards will be recycled in the game, so if you have any you don't want, bring them along.
Vibin' - with the one and only Jono Wyn Fretwell
Whether he's holding a camera, a tambourine or a marker pen, you can always be guaranteed good vibes from Jono. Seek him out if you need something photographed or illustrated, or if you need a surreal solo to animate your alien world - because chances are you will.
Cakes - with cake-maker Claire Knights
Delicious homemade cakes will be on sale, as well as tea, coffee, juice, and mulled wine.
Yuletide Paradise, Saturday 14 December, 6pm
We'll use the inspiration we gather at Top and Tale to spend a week creating a brand-new show with the working title Yuletide Paradise. You can experience the results on Saturday 14 December, 6pm, also on platform 1 of Edge Hill Station.
Brindley Youth Theatre winter sharing, Tuesday 17 December, 7pm
The Suitcase Ensemble are continuing to support The Brindley Youth Theatre who, following their incredible epic production in Halton Castle this summer, are developing their interest in devised and site-specific performance. The group will present an informal sharing of their work, on Tuesday 17 December, 7pm at Hazlehurst Studios, 73a High Street, Runcorn.

Christmas event at St Luke's Church, Wednesday 18 December, 4:30pm
We are currently working in partnership with St Luke's Church, Walton, and schools in the area, to develop an exciting new project that will use theatre and art to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. Marking the Days will include opportunities for all ages to get involved as well as a programme of unique professional theatre reflecting on the contemporary impact of the War.
Thanks to funding from Liverpool Housing Trust, we are currently running a pilot drama project in Gwladys Street Primary School. This will culminate in a public performance on Wednesday 18 December, 4:30pm at St Luke's Church, Goodison Road, Liverpool.
To reserve a free ticket for the show, or to express an interest in getting involved in future Marking the Days projects, please email: email@example.com
