Busy Suitcasers...

The Suitcase Ensemble are currently working away on a number of small (but very exciting!) projects. As well as our ongoing work in Everton (see below), we are completing several artistic commissions and we've started work on some brand-new folky-cabaret type stuff, which we shall share with you soon.

Commissions include The Ripple Effect, a youth production in partnership with Ambassadors Theatre Group/Liverpool Empire Education and Community Department, two 'subway performances' as part of The Brindley Arts Centre's public art project 'Going Underground', and the development of 'Project Potato' - an intimate piece commissioned for Conflux's Surge Festival in Glasgow.

You can witness for yourself the results of all our hard work:

Upcoming performances

Saturday 26 May, 8pm - 'Project Potato' (written and directed by Suitcase Ensemble's Julie Langford) performed as part of Fest Live @ Unity Theatre, Liverpool

Saturday 30 June, time tbc - First unveiling of our brand-new folk-cabaret material at Out of the Blue Music Festival in Everton Park, Liverpool

Saturday 14 July, times tbc - Going Underground launch, various subways in Castlefields, Runcorn (Suitcase Ensemble's Tessa Buddle will perform a spoken word piece in the Kingshead Close subway, created with participants from nearby Acorn Learning Centre, and direct pupils from The Brow Primary School in a processional performance in the Old Astmoor Lane subway)

Friday 27 - Sunday 29 July, 8.30pm - 'Project Potato' performed as part of Surge Festival Cabaret Club, Glasgow

Spring Heeled Jack in Everton

The Suitcase Ensemble are currently working in Everton, investigating the mythical figure of Spring Heeled Jack. This Victorian 'bogeyman' was last seen clinging to the roof of St Francis Xavier's Church and on nearby William Henry Street in the early 1900s, but we're wondering if he's due a return visit...

We are delighted to be in partnership with Hope Street Limited on this new project, working with adults and young people at West Everton Community Centre, Shrewsbury House youth club and The Clock community centre.
